FAQs [Frequently Asked Questions]
FAQs are Frequently Asked Questions - questions that DBZ Vortex, its staff and members get alot, and would be better to compile into an easy to read page (remember, do not confuse this page with the FAQs on the forum - they deal with different problems as to here).

Site Related Questions

Q - Who created the site, and who created the forum?
Jay created of the Site, and Angryboy created the forum (both co-own the site and forum).

Q - The images site looks wierd to me (eg: some colours blend together) - why?
Possibly due to being viewed on another browser - DBZ Vortex is best viewed on Mozilla Firefox (at a resolution of 800x600 or higher).

Q - Do you allow affiliation?
Right now, we aren't looking too into it, but in the near future, we will be looking for some. We are preferably looking for active sprite forums/sites (they don't have to particularly be LSW, but if they are, that'd be a bonus!).

Q - Why did you change from Aceboard to Excoboard?
Aceboard has a very basic layout. It is a basic forum and user friendly, but also caused problems (lots of downtime, unable to IP ban members - serious problem - and excruciatingly long loading times). Excoboard allows for almost complete alteration and customizing of html, so we can make Vortex any way we see fit, has much shorter loading times and allows IP banning! (among many other functions)

Q - Why did you change from Excoboard to Forumotion phpBB2?
More features are included with Forumotion, along with increased security and less down-time than Excoboard. Forumotion gets updates more often than Excoboard too, so bugs are likely to be fixed quicker. That and we have more power with user-groups and their permissions, so Moderators can now ban as they could on Aceboard and we get give members certain privelages if we want (such as the BETA users on the BETA testing board).

Q - Why do you keep deciding to change the layout?
[Angryboy] is an indecisive person, and very often is unable to make his mind up about certain things, especially regarding design. Usually, if he sees an element on a site that seems 'cool' or useful, he'll try to encompass it, meaning that elements need to be changed around. They're done with the good intent of improving the site, but as with any form of change, some people will be irritated by it, so please bear. =P

LSW Sprite Related Questions

Q - Can I use your sprites here?
No need to ask - the vault is here for this very purpose! All you need to do is give credit for the sheets that you use to the creators.

Q - What are sprites made with?
Most spriters would probably use Microsoft Paint (as you should already know, if you have a Windows PC, its on there). It takes practice to get good, so don't be discouraged if you feel you don't like your sprite. Your favourite spriters started off somewhere, right?

Q - What format should I save my sprites in?
The best is PNG. Only save in GIF if you know exactly what you are doing, and remember, never save a final sprite in JPG - it will be rendered unusable.

Q - Can I use your pictures/images?
Sorry, we do not allow you to use our graphics - however you may be able to request for one on the forum (in the GFX section). But sprites we don't count as 'graphics' or 'pictures', and are fine (as stated above).

Q - What is on the forum?
The forum is filled with news, sprites, comics, and GFX. It is hard to describe the Vortex community. but if you like LSW sprites and/or this vault, it is recommended you visit the forum or chatbox, 'kay?

Q - What can I use it for?
Many things, but mainly for conversation, and getting an opinion/review on your sprite, so if it is up to scratch, you have a better chance of it making it to the vault.

Q - What does LSW stand for?
LSW stands for Legendary Super Warriors. This is derived from the name of the game that the original sprites came from, Dragonball Z: Legendary Super Warriors for the GameBoy Colour. For more information, feel free to go to to Wikipedia.

Q - What is LSWA/LSWR/NLSW, or any of those LSW styles?
They are abbreviations of another style of Legendary Super Warriors spriting, usually trying to get a uniform style. The names also refer to the group who is making the sheets. (LSWA - Legendary Super Warriors Advanced, LSWR - Legendary Super Warriors Revolution, NLSW - Neo Legendary Super Warriors, etc...) For extra notice on these teams, ask the team leaders, or a member of the team in their topic.

Q - What is credit?
Credit is stating who did what in a sprite/spritesheet, and who's material you used. Going against doing so is a breach of our rules, and is regarded as stealing.

Q - What are W.I.PS?
WIP means Work in Progress. This is a term usually used for sprites which are yet to be completed. In this case, it is asked that you do not use them, until the creator has finished the sheet, or has given permission.

Q - What is VRP?
VRP stands for Vortex Remastering Project. It is a project currently running on Vortex to 'remaster' the LSW sheets, with 3 tone shading and some extra attacks. The aim of the project is to produce uniform LSW sheets, as not many Legendary Super Warriors sprites are made in the same way or shading style, so they look out of place when next to eachother. So having a uniform set would be useful for Sprite Comics and/or Games. They are to be released in Seasons similar to FUNimation's Dragonball Z Remastered Boxsets, as a sort of homage to FUNi's work.
